No Death Mode took around 5 hours of attempts total, but with 10-20 hours of practice/speedruns.

V ranks took around 7-8 hours for the full set, mostly on The Final Level and The Lab (I got SS2 pretty quick). Due to the high difficulty, there are many checkpoints that the player resets to upon death. I had around 600 deaths for my first 100 playthrough (90 minutes), but my most recent was (finally) the elusive 0 death run. The game has 8 main levels inside a large world which the player can freely explore. Later levels introduces such as moving floors or rooms, which upon reaching one side, the player emerges on the other. The player utilizes this to traverse the game's enviroment and avoid various hazards, including stationary spikes and moving enemies. Instead, the player must flip gravity while standing on a surface. Unlike most platformers, the player can't jump. The player's goal, as Viridian, is to find all the ships crew members, and escape the dimension. Personally I only use teleporter saves and just did it yesterday with 43 deaths (24 to gravitron).

Doing so gives you the challenge of playing the entire game without dying once. If you can get 0 deaths in the gravitron and use quicksaves at the start of each area you can get a 0 death run. No Death Mode If you achieve an S-Rank or above in at least four time trials, you can unlock the No Death Mode. After returning to the ship, Viridian learns that they are trapped in an alternate dimension ( Dimension VVVVVV). After beating all intermissions, you can use this mode to replay them with any crewmate. The crew escapes through a teleporter however, the teleporter separates the crew. The player controls Viridian, a spaceship captain, who has to evacuate his ship along with the rest of his crew when the ship encounters "Dimensional Interferance". However, the Open Pandora port will require the Windows, OS X, or Linux data files to function. It has been released in the Nintendo eShop for the 3DS and Nintendo Switch and a binary port is being made for Open Pandora. So I finished a game with 131 deaths, but the hardest room was Gravitron with 160 deaths. One of the trinkets (Prize for the Reckless), which the player has to die to get in normal mode, is made obtainable without having to die in no death mode.

The C++ port allowed a Linux version to be created. No-Death Mode is an interesting category in that it is the only category that has all the areas in the game played. The game was ported to C++ by Simon Roth in 2011 and was released in Humble Indie Bundle 3.
